A reminder of the other ‘nets’ in our area:

 

Founded in 1952, the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) is a public service that provides a reserve communications group within government agencies in times of extraordinary need. During periods of activation, RACES personnel are called upon to perform many tasks for the government agencies they serve. Although the exact nature of each activation will be different, the common thread is communications.

 

Utah HF Races Net - Odd numbered months......Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov...

The third Saturday, 8am, 3.920 mhz, LSB.  This net is conducted by the Utah Department of Homeland Security/Utah Department of Emergency Communication from the State Capitol in Salt Lake City.  All 29 Utah counties are polled for check-ins.  This HF net uses NO repeaters or Satellite assistance.  It is all "radio to radio" over hundreds of miles!

 

Utah VHF Races Net - Even numbered months.....Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec...

The third Thursday of the month, 8pm on a VHF, IRLP or Echolink repeater, node or link best for you.  This utilizes a sophisticated system of Public and Private Repeaters, VOIP (voice over internet protocol) and Reflectors to tie our state together via FM type communication during an emergency.  It is also managed by our Utah Department of Homeland Security/Utah Department of Emergency Communication from the State Capitol in Salt Lake City.  Again, all 29 Utah counties are polled.


 Sinbad Net - Each Tuesday at 8:00pm
